DRH Movement

DRH Movement
Campus California TG is part of what we call the “DRH Movement”. DRH is an abbreviation for "Den Rejsende Højskole", which in the Scandinavian languages means "The Traveling Folk School". A Movement we define as number of autonomous entities standing on a common ground. We are aiming to channel visions and ambitions of many into practical implementations that bring upon change and betterment. A “Traveling Folk School” is as the name indicates a school that travels in the world.

The first “Traveling Folk School” started in the early 70’s and has since then traveled to a good number of countries and places in the world. The “Traveling Folk School” declared the world as it's classroom and its programs brought people together, across borders and boundaries. The educational travels mainly went from a more developed part of the world (Scandinavia) into what at that time was called the “third world”. The most unfortunate and impoverished parts of the world that still struggle today for a life with dignity for its people are Asia, South America and Africa. The classrooms could be in a home of an Indian factory worker, on the streets with homeless children in Colombia, or in a village in rural Mozambique. With People to People, the world took one step closer in becoming One. It was a School, in it's best meaning of the word, where people learnt by doing and experiencing, and that were and still are part of creating a new culture where is not about Us and Them, but it is about Us, and about All of Us. Us as Homo sapiens with a responsibility on this Planet earth, our only home.
The first “Traveling Folk School” was established at a farm in northern Denmark at a place called “TVIND”. The year was 1970. It started as one, but ooops! It multiplied! Experiencing the world was not enough. How could it be? The Traveling Folk Schools took upon the task to take actions as responsible world citizens and train and organize many to take part in this humbling activity to create Development for some of the poorest people on this planet. The Solidarity worker program was born and people involved did their bit to place Solidarity in-between people, firmly where it belongs: in our hearts and in our actions. Schools and clinics were built in Africa, clothes were collected and shipped to Mozambique, wells were dug in villages in Afghanistan, crops were grown with Farmers in Colombia, and much more. Many came to experience the world and each other as people, by serving humanity well.
Today, more the 30 years after, the first Traveling Folk School at TVIND started, it has inspired many others and shot off into a total of 13 schools and institutes. These International Institutes goes under the definition “DRH Movement”. Even though each are their own entity, with own names, activities and programs what differs are all the “off springs” of that first “Traveling Folk School” and further, they all train and place people to work at the humanitarian projects run by Humana People to People.
This is the Development Instructor program.
